You can use the Quick Search option to quickly locate records without the need to build a more detailed query. If you need to build a more advanced search, please refer to The Search option.
Quick Search is available in the following modules:
The Quick Search option is under the toolbar of each module.
The search is applied to the information that is visible in the module window and the records that contain the information you searched for appear. When searching customer, supplier and invoice lists, the address information is also searched.
To switch between your filtered search results and the full list, click the spyglass in the top right-hand corner of the window. To discard your search, click Clear.
The search isn't case sensitive and looks for all of the characters entered, so for example, a search for John Smith returns records that include John Smith but not records that contain just John or Smith in isolation.
When searching for dates, you should use the format DD/MM/YYYY.
Tip: Quick Search is applied to all of the configurable columns with text or numeric entries. It isn't applied to dates.
The following wildcards can be used to broaden your search:
Wildcard |
Search results |
* | Use the asterisk if you want to search using part of a name or value. A search for ab* returns all of the records that have content beginning with ab. |
$ | This search returns all of the records that contain the characters after the $ sign. A search for $abc locates all of the records that contain the text abc in any of the searched content. |
? |
This wildcard can be used for single undefined characters in a search. A search for ST?001 in the Demo Data customer list returns records STE001 and STU001. |
Tip: If no wildcards are used, Quicksearch automatically runs a $ style search to ensure the maximum number of search results are captured.
